Sub: Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging (PGDP) by Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP)
Dear Sir/Madam,
The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging designed to improve packaging standards in India, support the growth of exports, and help make India a global center for modern packaging practices in art, science, technology, and engineering.
Objective of the Course:
- To highlight the growing importance of packaging in global trade and product distribution.
- To meet the rising demand for trained professionals in packaging design, development, production, and quality control.
- To support over 7,000 large industries and 4,50,000 small industries in India that need skilled packaging experts.
- To offer industry-relevant education in collaboration with global packaging bodies like APF and WPO.
- To bridge the skill gap by offering a 2-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging, successfully running since 1987.
Course Overview
- Course Name: Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging (PGDP)
- Duration: 2 Years (Full-Time)
- Academic Year: 2025–26
- Centres: Available at Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad
Eligibility
- Must have a full-time (not part-time or correspondence) graduate degree in Science (12th + 3-year degree = total 5 years in Science).
- Subjects accepted:
- Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics
- Microbiology / Biochemistry
- Agriculture / Food Science / Polymer Science
- Engineering or Technology (from an AICTE or recognized university)
- Minimum requirement: At least Second Class in graduation.
- Must have consistently good academic performance and general knowledge.
- Overseas qualification equivalent to Indian eligibility is also accepted.
- Final year students can also apply, but they must submit their final/provisional result before the personal interview.
- Without submitting final results on time, candidates will be disqualified from the admission process.
Age Limit:
- Maximum age: 30 years as of 31st May 2025
- Age relaxation:
- OBC: 3 years extra (up to 33 years)
- SC/ST: 5 years extra (up to 35 years)
Curriculum:
- The course is designed to give students strong knowledge and skills in all major areas of packaging.
- The course includes:
- 70% Theory: Classroom learning and library work
- 30% Practical: Lab work, industrial visits, projects, and industrial training
- Students will also take part in the Research & Development (R&D) activities of the Institute.
Selection Procedure
Step 1: Written Entrance Exam (IIPCET-2025)
- All applicants must appear for a multiple-choice written test.
- The exam will include subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering
- Syllabus is based on graduation-level topics.
- Students can choose questions but must stay within a fixed question limit.
- Exam Date: 22nd June 2025
- Exam Centers: Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad
- The institute will decide the minimum qualifying marks to shortlist candidates.
Application Deadline & Form
- Last date to apply: 15th June 2025
- Application for admission to the course needs to be submitted on or before 15/06/2025 along with attested copies of mark sheets and other credentials. Application form, Prospectus and Syllabus can be obtained from 1st week of February 2025 from any center by paying Rs. 500 in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of Indian Institute of Packaging payable at Mumbai or Kolkata or Delhi or Chennai or Hyderabad or Ahmedabad. Step 2: Personal Interview
- After the written exam, selected candidates will be invited for a personal interview.
- Interview Centers: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad
- The institute will again decide a minimum score to qualify.
- Final selection is based on overall merit, calculated as:
