Ref. MR/CIR/2023-24/00155 4 October 2023
To: Members of The Council
Dear Sir/ Madam,
Sub: Hybrid Meeting on India Australia CECA on 05.10.2023 at 11.30 AM
As you may be aware, the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) entered into force on 29 December 2022 and as per the tariff liberation of the Agreement the Manmade fibre textiles from India are enjoying Duty free Market Access in the Australian markets since the Agreement enters into force. However, taking into account interest of Indian companies, most of the Manmade fibre value chain including Fibre, yarn, Fabrics, and Made ups, are kept in the staging Category E wherein after 3 to 7 years duty will be eliminated /reduced and some of the Fabrics, and Made ups, are also kept in the staging Category Exclusion List (EL). Please refer the Tariff Schedule of Indian attached (click to download).
Now, Ministry of Textiles is seeking views from the industry whether our MMF textiles segment be opened with duty concession/elimination for Australia and the same will be discussed in the meeting tomorrow.
Members are requested to send their valuable inputs on whether our MMF textiles segment be opened with duty concession/elimination for Australia.
