Sub: Emerging Export Opportunity to Belarus
The Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and its Belarusian counterpart Bellegprom Concern had held the 2nd India - Belarus Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting through online on 18 September 2023.
The Meeting was chaired by Smt. Shubhra, Trade Adviser, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India from the Indian side and Ms. Natalia Murashko, Deputy Chairperson of the Bellegprom Concern from the Belarusian side. Shri Alok Ranjan Jha, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Minsk was also present at the meeting. Other senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles were also present during the meeting.
Both sides have discussed on mutual textile cooperation and trade between India and Belarus. Current annual MMF textiles import of Belarus from world is around US$ 500 million and import from India is US$ 2 mn. that accounts for a share of 0.4% only. Therefore, there is scope for mutual collaboration in MMF textiles and Technical Textiles between Belarus and India.
Both sides have also discussed about exchange of information and data for mutual benefit during the JWG Meeting. Trade Adviser, Ministry of Textiles, India requested our Council to send a list of member-companies who are interested to export Manmade fibre Textiles and Technical Textiles to Belarus. Ministry will share the list of exporters to Belarusian counterparts for finding out suitable importers.
