Ref: MR/2022-23/0071 22 August 2022
TO: THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL
Sub: Export Target achievement China
It is to inform the Member-exporters that the export targets for 2022-23 are monitored regularly by the Department of Commerce (DoC), Ministry of Commerce and Industry and monthly meetings are held with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) along with Indian Missions to address any shortfall/slippages.
As per the latest data available on export targets for the period April-July 2022, the export target achievement for China is USD 13 million or 20% of target fixed (against required run rate of 33% or USD 22 million) of total annual export target of US$ 67 million fixed for the Manmade fibre textiles segment to China. Thus, there is shortfall of USD 9 million in target for China for the period April-July 2022. This is quite worrisome, and it is urgent to think of ways to increase our exports to China so as to meet the target fixed.
In this regard, the DoC calls for a meeting in the forenoon on 24 August 2022 to discuss the challenges relating to exports along with strategy for increasing exports to China.
Therefore, Member-exporters of this Council having associated with exports to China are requested to send their valuable inputs regarding reasons/ issues for shortfall/slippage in exports or challenges while exporting to China and suggestions as to how exports of Indian MMF textiles to China may be increased.
The above-sought inputs may be emailed to baruah@srtepc.in, ed@srtepc.in by tomorrow 23 August 2022 positively.
Regards,
S. BALARAJU
