Dear Members,

Sub: Roadmap on Low Carbon Technologies in Textiles Sector

Greetings.

It is to inform that this Council received a communication from Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Govt. of India on the above-mentioned subject.

It is informed that there was a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) held on 8^th  June 2022 on implementation of Roadmap on energy efficiency with due focus on sectors with high emission intensity.

The suggested action points during the Meeting are as follows:

1. CO2 reduction targets and respective measures to achieve these targets.
2. Roadmap to achieve the targets for emission intensity and CO2 emission reduction by 2030 of Textile Sector along with expected financial implications, if any
3. Initiatives taken by the Members aimed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and keep global warming below +1.5 °C; Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats, particularly those most threatened by climate change; Working together to achieve carbon neutrality: the challenges of the climate crisis can only be overcome if everyone plays their part.

Members are requested to furnish their inputs/comments to the Council through email to baruah@srtepc.in, ed@srtepc.in by 29 July 2022 to help us prepare and send a consolidated reply to the Ministry as directed.
